AI Development for Healthcare

Health software people rely on every day. We have shipped our own, and we build custom AI for care workflows, patient engagement and health data.

  • We build and run our own health apps, so this is not theory
  • Patient-facing design that works for stressed, non-technical people
  • Privacy first: collect the minimum, process on the device where possible
  • Straight talk about regulatory boundaries before anything is built

Health software faces a hard test. People use it when they are stressed, unwell, or caring for someone who is. It either helps in that moment or it gets deleted. We know because we build and run our own health apps, and that experience shapes every healthcare project we take on.

What we build for health organisations

Patient engagement and adherence. Reminders, check-ins, education and nudges that people keep using. This is the difference between a care plan on paper and one that happens. It is the territory of our own products, and the lesson we keep relearning is that tone and timing beat features.

Document automation. Intake forms, referrals, discharge summaries and insurance documents. OCR and document understanding turn paper and PDFs into structured data. Agents route them to the right place with an audit trail.

Internal knowledge assistants. Protocols, formularies and policy documents, answered by a grounded assistant that gives staff a cited answer in seconds instead of a search through binders, and says “check with the pharmacist” when confidence drops.

Health data workflows. Dashboards, reconciliation and monitoring. The plumbing that care teams rely on, built with production discipline.

How we treat privacy

Health data deserves caution bordering on paranoia. Our defaults: collect the minimum, process on the device where possible, encrypt everywhere, log every access, and deploy inside your infrastructure so data never passes through ours. When a feature can work without the sensitive field, it should.

Where we draw the line

We build wellness, engagement, adherence and operational software. We do not dabble in regulated diagnostics. If your idea crosses into medical-device or clinical-decision territory, we will say so in the first call and help you separate what can be built now from what needs a regulatory pathway. Being clear about that boundary costs you less than our enthusiasm would.

If you are budgeting, the cost guide applies to health projects too. Data readiness is usually the deciding factor. Ready to talk it through? Get in touch.

Things we've actually built

Pillpal

Our own medication adherence app: dose reminders, adherence tracking, stock alerts and family monitoring. Designing reminders people do not abandon taught us more about health UX than any client brief could.

Breathr

A quit-smoking companion built around behaviour change, with a personal quit plan and support during a craving. Shipping it taught us what keeps people engaged with a health goal for months rather than days.

Frequently asked questions

Are you HIPAA / GDPR compliant?

We build for the regime that applies to you: data minimisation, encryption, access controls, audit logs, and deployment inside your compliant infrastructure. For regulated builds, your compliance officer or counsel signs off on the design and we build to that bar.

Do you build medical devices or diagnostic AI?

No. We build wellness, adherence, engagement and workflow software. Anything that counts as a regulated medical device or a clinical diagnosis needs a regulatory pathway, and we will say so in the first call rather than stumble into it.

Can AI work with our messy health data?

Usually, yes. Health data is fragmented, and a short discovery phase tells us what is realistically usable. Document automation for intake forms, referrals and reports is often the best first project precisely because it brings order to the mess.

What's a good first AI project for a health organisation?

Something high-volume and low-risk: document intake, appointment communication, adherence nudges, or an internal assistant for policies and protocols. Prove the pattern where mistakes are cheap, then move up.
